Hello,

Although Birdlife Internation/Spain and the WWF are running
campaigns to prevent the loss of the Ebro wetlands, as much support
as possible is needed AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. Time is running out and
important decisions will be taken by EU commissioners next week.

If we do not act:

"...the delta will dry up, erode and eventually vanish. The
consequences of this are obvious to even to a layman.

The large population of the delta, and the more than half a million
annual visitors will suffer as a direct result. The local
sustainable industries of rice growing and fishing will no longer be
viable, the eco-tourist industry will come to a standstill and
families who have lived there for generations will be forced to
migrate to find other employment.

Flora and fauna will also vanish some of them for ever.

The hundreds of thousands of birds which use the delta in transit
during migration will have to find alternative resting sites. Many
will die and populations will inevitably decline."
